Ally, a senior at High Country Christian Academy, loves singing, dancing and working with children. Throughout her high school years, Ally sang in her church praise team choir and danced with Summit Dance works, where she performed in ballet, jazz and lyrical dance.
Make no mistake, however – Ally is passionate about working with children. She is currently employed at First Baptist Church of Black Forest, but it is in her volunteering roles that Ally’s love for children, and people in general, really shine.
Each year Ally is a Vacation Bible School leader, and she also volunteers in the City Serve program of “COS I Love You” (a movement of local churches serving the Colorado Springs area). Ally helped organize and clean “Zach’s Place” at the Laurie Hillyard Family Center; a daycare and respite care location for children with special needs.
In addition, she also volunteers at “Crossfire Ministries” where she helps serve the working poor of our city. At the start of the school year, Ally donates loaded back packs, turkeys for the Thanksgiving Turkey Drive and presents to the local foster care system at Christmas. Wow!
It is no surprise, then, that Ally is hoping to study Early Childhood Education next year, first at PPCC, and then transfer to the University of Northern Colorado or the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs to finish her degree.
Ally is not all work and no play, however. She recently returned from a fun getaway to Estes park where she enjoyed hiking and boating, and is very excited about an upcoming cruise (next spring) to Roatan, Costa Maya, Cozumel and Nassau.
