Senior Spotlight: Eric

Eric is an autistic senior at Discovery Canyon High School and joins a class of seniors that will make history this year as the first class to attend Discovery Canyon from kindergarten through the 12thgrade.8402Ericblog1

Although autism has presented Eric many challenges, he has worked hard to overcome them.  Since his freshman year, Eric has run track and field, and cross country since his sophomore year. He has participated in the chess club and enjoys going to school dances, plays and parties. Eric is extremely social and is passionate about making friends, especially ones that he can hang out with. He loves dogs, is a great rock climber and likes to play Wii, especially “Just Dance.”

Through a program at school, Eric worked for Chick-fil-A, where he helped keep the dining area clean and prep trays for those who were “dining in”. In addition, he has volunteered at “Zach’s Place” to make lunches for others with disabilities.
