Senior Spotlight: Sonya

Doherty senior, Sonya, has been nicknamed “Beebeechola” by her family – where she is one of eight children. While some families have a “soccer mom”, Sonya’s family refers to her as the “soccer sister” since she is so helpful in driving her siblings to their many activities.

Sonya has a multitude of passions herself, one of which is playing the violin, and she is in the Audition Advanced Orchestra at her school. Making her violin extra special is the case that she stores it in, which had belonged to her aunt Liz and was saved by her grandma for nine years until Sonya became the proud owner.

Outside of school, Sonya loves hanging out with her friends and making videos in Photoshop, as well as hiking — with Helen Hunt Falls being her favorite. She also collects snow globes, volunteers at “Special Kids Special Families” and has a job at Kum & Go.

This spring she is excited about traveling with other students in her school district to Italy and Greece. After graduation Sonya plans to attend Cosmetology school.
