Not many of my senior clients bring a stethoscope to their portrait sessions. But then, not many spend part of their school day studying to be an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician) either. For Rampart senior, Emilee, attaining her EMT status is just a stepping-stone towards her goal of becoming a Radiation Therapist — the person who administers high power radiation to cancer patients.
To balance her left-brain medical training, Emilee loves to engage in various hobbies outside school. Reading, horseback riding, rock climbing, hiking and cuddling her two dogs, Cooper and Mollee, are a few of the ways she spends her free time. But her favorite hobby is baking cookies and cakes, and her “Ultimate Chocolate Cake” is her specialty.
Emilee is in FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) and participates in “Ramantics” – Rampart’s version of a variety show. She volunteers during the summer at the Air Force Academy stables by helping with the rental horseback rides.
Another unique way that she volunteers is by fostering cats. In other words, she helps baby kittens that are not old enough, or weigh enough, until they are ready to be adopted. This usually lasts between three and four weeks, when they are returned to the Humane Society for adoption.
After graduation Emilee wants to take a road trip with friends to California and Oregon and then pursue her Associates degree in either Texas or Washington.
