We Must Stop Meeting Like This!

We must stop meeting like this!” were the words I found myself repeatedly uttering yesterday afternoon.

I was at a memorial service.

And for myself, and a handful of others, this was the second memorial service in less than a month that we found ourselves attending for friends whose lives ended way too soon. In addition, two other young clients of mine also lost their lives this past fall.

As humans, when we are faced with a tragedy, such as the death of a friend or relative, it is our nature to want to help out in some way.

This help comes in many different forms; whether it be bringing a meal, starting a “Go Fund Me”, donating money, organizing a prayer chain, helping with funeral arrangements, etc.

For me, that help is in locating images that I have taken of the deceased (sometimes from very old back-up drives) and sending them to their families. My hope is that by providing the digital images, these families can relive wonderful memories of their loved one.

As we all know, life is precious and fleeting. To quote a friend who was at both of the services this past month, “Life is a precious gift, and I am sure being hit in the face to acknowledge it”.

So, make memories with your loved ones, capture those times together with photos and then print them (or at least categorize and back them up for future reference). If you haven’t had a family portrait in a number of years, it might be time to consider taking one. And, finally, tell your family and friends you love them, smile at strangers, be kind.

Every day is a gift.

During this month of love, I wish you and yours, “health, love, happiness and many amazing captured moments.”
