Sheridan, a 2021 senior at the Vanguard School, is an award-winning equestrian that specializes in dressage. She started riding at the age of five, and throughout her riding career has won numerous International Championships and collected over 100 championship ribbons.
As the founder of the Vanguard High School Service Club, Sheridan organized and led numerous community service projects locally, nationally and internationally. She and her service club supported a variety of organizations such as: Care & Share, Habitat for Humanity, Meals on Wheels, Support Our Troops and Project Angel Heart. She was also featured in The Gazette for leading her school’s fundraiser for the wildfires in Australia.
Sheridan is in the National Honor Society, Science Club and was the media coordinator for the Vanguard School chapter of The American Rocketry Challenge – a program where high school teams from all over the nation compete to create and build model rockets designed to meet specified criteria. As the media coordinator, Sheridan was responsible for the social media part of the challenge where she advertised and solicited sponsors and donations to fund the supplies.
This girl is one smart cookie, so it was no surprise, then, that she was selected by the US State Department to serve as a Youth Ambassador to the country of Belize. While the actual trip to Belize had to be postponed until next summer due to Covid, Sheridan and her fellow US Youth Ambassadors are involved in a 6 week virtual program to learn about diplomacy, leadership, cultural awareness and civic engagement both in the US and Belize, with the goal that she will create and lead her own community service project here in the United States.
Next year Sheridan would love to attend Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio to major in cognitive behavioral neuroscience. After her four- year degree, she would like to join the Peace Corps and then get a PhD in Psychology where she would spend her time divided between doing research and psychotherapy. Holy cow!
So, what does this beautiful young girl do with her limited spare time? Works at a frozen yogurt shop and hangs out with her two “goofy” Bernese Mountain dogs: Indy and Kenai (pictured) of course!
It was my sincere pleasure to photograph Sheridan, the 4th and final child of the Kraus family that I have been photographing over a span of fourteen years. To quote mom, Paige, “Captured Moments Senior Pictures are a Kraus Family Tradition.” And I am equally grateful for their business and ensuing friendship.
