Senior Spotlight: Emma & Fiesta

This senior spotlight is not only about Emma, but also her furry best friend, Fiesta, and the crazy path that finally brought them together.9002Emmablog1

Emma is passionate about dogs … especially her little brown and white Chihuahua Fiesta. Their story begins when Emma worked as a volunteer for National Mill Dog Rescue where she was tasked with playing with the dogs, helping as a “pooper scooper” and cage cleaner. It was during this time that Emma first met and fell in love with Fiesta.

Fate, however, would not have them be together at this time, as her parents didn’t want to adopt another dog. Instead, Fiesta was adopted by an elderly lady who renamed him Cuddles and surely provided him with lots of love for the two years that she owned him until her death.

9096Emmablog2After her passing, Fiesta was sent to foster care and an urgent plea went out to people who worked with the NMDR to find a permanent home for the little dog. Fortunately, Emma’s mom saw the email, and this time Emma was able to convince her dad to let her adopt Fiesta. Indeed, Emma had a very happy 16thbirthday when Fiesta (renamed from Cuddles to the name he had when she originally met him — Fiesta) finally became hers!

When Emma is not playing with Fiesta, she enjoys drawing and painting – especially eyes (stunning!). She also loves to hike and hang out with friends.EmmaLblog3

After graduation from Rampart next spring, she hopes to attend Northern Arizona University to study Early Childhood Education.
